OWLs Potluck

OWLs Potluck

  • Open to all adults 55+

  • Led by volunteer coordinator Brian Narveson

The OWL’s May potluck is Wednesday, May 20 at noon in the fellowship hall. Our theme for the month is La Crosse County History. Along that theme the program be presented by Jeff Rand on the “La Crosse Lumber Boom 1844-1910”. The lumber boom transformed La Crosse County from a frontier settlement into one of the Mississippi River’s major timber hubs, driving rapid population growth, industrial expansion, and urban development. Between 1844 and 1910, La Crosse became a leading lumber center as vast quantities of pine were harvested in northern Wisconsin and floated down the Black and Mississippi Rivers by lumberjacks and rivermen, whose labor powered the region’s economy. Bring a dish to pass and come join the fun and fellowship.

The OWLs (Older Wiser Lutherans) are a group at First that welcomes anyone, First Lutheran members or not, who are 55+. For information or to ask questions, contact Brian Narveson at owls@firstlu.org.

A reminder for all meals that First Lutheran is a nut-free campus. Please do not bring food containing nuts or nut butters/oils/extracts of any kind onto the church campus. This is for the safety of all of our members. Thanks!
